The modern life of Disney Princesses: Happily ever after? Part 1
This week I am going to Disneyland with my family. We go almost every year and though my kids are no longer small, it is still one of my favorite things to do.
This brings me to my next adventure in AI. Imagining Disney Princesses as middle-aged women in modern society. I used ChatGPT to create the story imaging these princesses as modern middle-aged suburban wives and then asked Midjourney to supply some portraits to help our imagination.
Once upon a time in ideal suburbia...

"The Little Mermaid: A Cautionary Tale of Trading in Your Tail for Domestic Drudgery"
Princess Ariel |
Prince Eric had become increasingly absent-minded and careless, using Ariel's dinglehopper without permission and leaving socks and other items scattered around the house. Ariel felt like she was constantly picking up after him and struggling to keep the household running smoothly.
Despite her best efforts to engage with her husband, Ariel felt like he was no longer interested in spending time with her or their children. She longed for the days when they would go on underwater adventures together and enjoy each other's company without distractions.
One day, Ariel decided enough was enough and sat down to have a heart-to-heart talk with her husband. She expressed how his behavior was affecting her and their family, and how she missed the connection they used to share.
To her relief, Prince Eric listened and understood. He apologized for his careless behavior and promised to make an effort to be more engaged with their family and help out around the house. From that day forward, they worked together to create a happy and healthy home environment, filled with love, laughter, and plenty of dinglehoppers.
Another Suburban Cinderella: A Thrilling Tale of Love and Misery in Middle Age
Cinderella |
Prince Charming had become distant and uninterested in their relationship, leaving Cinderella feeling neglected and alone. She spent her days talking to the animals in the backyard, drinking to numb the pain, and taking care of their children.
To make matters worse, her father-in-law had started acting erratically, causing chaos in their home and making Cinderella feel like she was constantly walking on eggshells. She struggled to keep up with the demands of running the household and taking care of her family, while also trying to avoid her father-in-law's unpredictable behavior.
Despite her difficulties, Cinderella refused to give up on her family. She sought solace in her children and found comfort in their love and support. She also reached out to her friends and found a supportive community who helped her cope with her challenges.
As time passed, Prince Charming began to realize his mistakes and made an effort to be more present in their family's life. With the help of his wife and children, he also worked to address his father's erratic behavior and restore peace to their home.
In the end, Cinderella found strength and resilience in the face of adversity. She learned to prioritize her own well-being and found happiness in the love of her family and friends. Though life had been difficult, she had emerged stronger and more determined to make the most of every day.
"Sleeping Beauty trades her crown for a mop: The thrilling suburban life of a forgotten princess"
Princess Aurora or Sleeping Beauty |
Gone were the days of ball gowns, lavish feasts, and servants attending to her every need. Now, Aurora spent her days cleaning her own house, doing laundry, and running errands.
She often thought about the days when she was a princess and how she was admired by all. But now, she felt invisible and forgotten.
Her days were filled with monotonous tasks, and she longed for something more. She missed the excitement and adventure of her past life, but she knew that those days were gone.
Despite the challenges she faced, Aurora remained optimistic and determined to make the best of her situation. She found joy in small moments, like watching the sunset or taking walks in the park.
With each passing day, Aurora learned to appreciate the simple things in life and found happiness in her independence. She no longer needed to rely on others for her own happiness, and that was a liberating feeling.
In the end, Aurora realized that true happiness came from within and that she didn't need to be a princess to live a fulfilling life. She may have lost her title and her husband, but she had gained something far more valuable: the ability to create her own happiness and to find joy in the everyday moments of life.
Some of those were dark and some were very inspirational. Next week we will continue with a few more Princesses. I wonder if Aladdin did show Jasmine a Whole New World, or was it just a neighborhood potluck.
